Once, a businessman, on his way to a sales presentation was passing by a rough road, where his car fell down in a ditch. He somehow managed to come out himself but couldn’t take car out of the ditch.

He saw a farmer and an old mule nearby. He went up to the farmer and asked the farmer if he could use his phone to make a call, the farmer said he doesn’t have a phone, the man then asked if he could drive him to somewhere where phone is available, the farmer replied there is no vehicle either.  The man got furious and said, “How am I going to go now my car is stuck in that ditch and I can’t even call anybody for help”. The farmer said, “Don’t worry, my mule “Jack” can take your car out”. The man looked at the farmer and said, “How would an old mule pull my car out of that ditch!” The farmer said, “yes he can, just see”.

The mule was taken where the car was and it started pulling the car. The farmer then cried out loud, “Come on Jack pull it out, come on ‘Cezar’ pull it, pull it ‘Rodey’, pull it ‘Jontey’ pull it pull it !!!

And the mule (Jack) pulled the car out successfully. The man in amazement said “WOW, that was awesome; an old mule pulled my car out of the ditch!” The farmer said, “See I told you Jack can do it”. The man then asked the farmer out of curiosity that why the farmer was calling out the other names (Cezar, Rodey, Jonty) along with Jack, the farmer then told, “My mule Jack is blind actually, it thinks the others (Cezar,Rodey,Jonty) are it’s team mates and it puts in his efforts thinking itself as a part of the team and succeeds”

So dear readers, just the thought or feel of being a part of a team makes a lot of difference. If we talk about teamwork towards the progress of our country, we don’t have to join any group or a union or a community or any party to work for our country, we just have to have the feel of being a part of this country and give our 100%. We all know our own set of responsibilities which we should be fulfilling on our own. 

The progress of Pakistan is the mutual goal of all the citizens and the citizens are the team members of the country who should work towards achieving the mutual goal. You just have to develop this thinking that you are one of the team members of this country and are supposed to play your roles as effectively as possible.

Remember, “What did you do for your country” would also be one of the questions you will be answerable to God for. So don’t think if is somebody is not following the country rules or littering around or bribing and not being penalized here, would not be penalized hereafter also… no it is not so…. You will be accountable for everything that you are supposed to do as a citizen.

Just like every player of a cricket team works hard to be “The Man of the Match” which ultimately results in the success of the team because every member had tried his best, you are a self elected team member of this country, so if all of us work out towards becoming the “Citizen of the country”, our efforts will ultimately result in the success of Pakistan in all grounds.

 How beautiful and soothing is the thought of having the one, who is the sole giver, with you all the time wherever you are.

Just imagine how wonderful it would be if we could always carry a doctor with us wherever we go so that he could always take care of us if we get ill anytime, imagine if we could always carry our teachers with us everywhere we go so we could always get their help anytime we need, imagine if we could always take a mechanic along with us everywhere we go so that he could always fix our car anywhere it breaks down.

But no, these are just the creatures of God who cannot be with us all the time and everywhere we need them; they are available at specific times at specific places. But Allah, our creator is EVERYWHERE!

The above mentioned verse is a beautiful piece of writing by some anonymous poet, a two liner but has a very deep message.

To reach God you don’t need to look high up in the sky, he is right here, among us… There is no special place where God is found, there is no special time when he attends his people… He is living with his people… He will always listen to you no matter wherever you are and whatever condition you are in.

You don’t have to wait for the 5 times prayers only to share few words with Allah, you can call for him anytime… You don’t have to wait for the Friday prayers or Holy month of Ramadan to improve your deeds to be in the good books of Allah and make your way to Paradise. He is watching you all the time and everywhere, so do it right now.

What greater blessing one could ask for than having a 24/7 helpline facility accessible from any corner of the world with a guarantee of no disrupted connection!!!

Even the soldiers at war field, all covered with dust and dirt say their prayers and Allah for sure does not disregard their prayers for the reason they are not neat and clean at that moment!!!

So people!!! Keep availing this facility… nothing can stop you from getting in touch with Allah… Do not bring anything in between you and your God!!! He has all the time in this world for you… All you need to do is “Call for him” whenever and wherever you need him !!!

It’s really sad to see the wrong interpretation of the above mentioned slogan. Does this in any way mean to promote the idea that you blow yourself up by tying a bomb around you and end up cutting your head off? But unfortunately that’s how it’s being taken as.

Pakistan was meant to give life to the shattered ones and not to take away life from the blessed ones.

Over here “Sar katana” does not mean to kill yourself without even realizing what you are killing yourself for. By suicide bombing you do end up cutting your head off but this is not the message of this slogan!! It simply says we should always be ready to sacrifice our lives for the sake of our country rather then giving in, but then again not at the cost of innocent people’s lives!!!

We don’t need the blood of those who kill themselves for the sake of killing innocent people; we rather need people who could dedicate their lives to save Pakistan from its enemies, from the hurdles in our road of success, from the hypocrites, from the corrupted ones.

Your life should be meaningful not only when you are living but even after you die. Sacrifice your life, but to save lives, to save your country, to bring your country out of darkness, not to snatch lives and leave your country in blood streams.

We should rather be influenced by the following inspirational verse:

“Yeh roz o shab ka be-noor jaal, yeh bikhre khayalon ka be-noor khwab,

Aao, utha dain saare parde, aur gira dain saare buth,

Aao, umeed ke geet gayen, geet gayen, geet gayen”

Spread the right word… Post this verse on as many forums and communities as possible, and rekindle the spirits!!!

BUT, I believe we have all the necessary resources that a country possibly needs to be economically sound, the only resource that we lack in is the “Human Resource”. Unfortunately we do not have the right people to make the right use of the resources that we are already blessed with. The shortage in this country is only that of “brains” and not any other resource.

We say foreign countries, neighboring countries are all far more advanced, stabled and progressing than Pakistan, be it in technology, economic stability, political stability, education system etc. BUT have we ever thought WHY IS THAT SO??? It is because the citizens of that country are using their brains in their own countries; they are investing their hard work, their efforts, their intelligence, their intellect, their creativity, their skills in their own countries rather than going abroad, get settled and work in other countries. On top of that, our brains are also moving abroad, getting settled and working to further add to the progress of other countries. So why would other countries not progress!!!

Since childhood it is hammered in our children’s brains that you are growing up and being educated just to go abroad one day and get settled there. It is the case in almost every family here, my family, your family, our families! How many of us are actually investing in our children to make them capable people who would serve our own country??

Why don’t we just think about staying back in our own country and live with whatever facilities it is giving us?? Most of us want to leave this country and get settled abroad, because we have security issues, we have political instability, because we might be blown up in bomb blasts someday… why don’t we want to die in our own country?? I do not mean to say that we should voluntarily go to the terrorists and ask them to blow us up, neither I am in any way favoring suicide bombing, but I am stressing upon the fact that the least we can do for our country is stay back and live with whatever available here, so that sometime in future if our country would need us, we shall at least be there to fight for our country, as it is our “homeland” our “native land”!! If today you migrate to some other country and tomorrow the conditions in that country also turns unfavorable, will you be migrating again to another country? Till when will you keep doing this?

And the worst and most hatred thing about those who migrate from here and happen to come back to visit their own country; they break the rules here about which they are very particular in other country, saying that “When in Rome; do as Romans do!” in that case, just ask these people once “If you go to Jungle, will you do as Animals do????”

We cry about bad governance in Pakistan, who is going to turn it to good governance?? “WE” can, only if we stay back and serve our country by utilizing the education and knowledge that we gain in schools and colleges, rather than applying our skills in other countries.  If this continues, Pakistan would be left as a Barren Land—- a Land with no People!!

So the basic idea of this critique is that if we choose to go abroad and serve other countries, then we have no right to complain and condemn Pakistan for its poor progress, it is YOU who can overcome the shortages, deficiencies, scarcities in Pakistan… ONLY IF YOU STAY BACK IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY!!!

By saying so, I do not only mean to advise to Be yourself, it’s about being known as what you are rather than who you are.

It starts from my childhood. I was admitted to a school where my mother had been serving for a very long time as Principal. Although I was in a different branch, but I never wanted to be stamped as ‘Madam Zarreen Bari’s daughter’, rather I wanted my mother to be known as ‘Maheen Bari’s mother’.

I excelled in studies as well as actively participated in extra-curricular activities .if I had been only studious, I would have been known in my class only, but I wanted to be known throughout the school, therefore I always made sure to be prominent in co-curricular activities also. I was praised, appreciated and loved because of my own personality. I never uttered to anybody about my mom being the Principal at another branch of our school. Eventually, through word of mouth people (teachers and all) happened to know about it and then I was liked even more for the fact that I never used or misused my mother’s name or took any undue advantage of being a Principal’s daughter.

I never wanted my teachers to favor me because I was Madam Zarreen’s daughter, that’s why initially I always used to send my father at our parents teacher meetings and not my mom. But when everybody knew about my mother, I started sending my mom and it was the best moment of my life when my teacher commented to my mom that “You have a daughter to be proud of” 

Even after growing up and getting in college and university, I maintained my reputation so that nobody could claim that I used to be popular and got good grades only when I was in my mother’s school. And this continued when I stepped in the professional life. I got my job without ant references. I was liked in the interview and was offered the job there and then.

So guys, rather than being proud to be somebody’s daughter or son, make others be proud of you, make others be known because of you, refer others rather than being referred by others.

Believe me, it’s a great feeling to be loved just because “I AM ME”.
